‘Johnny Come Lately’ business may arrive…

Last night’s Panorama programme on Domiciliary Care and the disgusting expose (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/health/article6062801.ece) may unfortunately, because of the size of the marketplace, bring many ‘Johnny Come Lately’ or ‘Me Too’ pretend Domiciliary Care businesses. The accent of the programme in my view should have examined the role of CSCI; now renamed CQC (http://cqc.org.uk) in the aspect of policing. 6a00d8341c761a53ef01156f1677fc970c-320wi2Care UK for instance and Domiciliary Care (Scotland) should have been stopped many times before; these companies are not new to CQC; not at all. Like all these types of expose, it is right that the bad practices are (and continue to be) exposed but in the industry per say, there is an abundance of good will and practices that never gets reported on. Check United Kingdom Homecare Association Ltd (UKHCA)

One thing for sure: the whole reason the existence Domiciliary Care is to cut costs for the tax payer and we are all culpable.  My view: old age is best spent with your family or if that cannot be, then through the excellent work of Care Homes; Residential Homes and Nursing Homes.

We need to make sure the Johny come lately businesses get fired by CQC before they do any damage to anyone.
